Winter Essentials on the Winter Solstice

Happy Winter Solstice, y’all! As we celebrate the first day of winter and a whole new season of energy, I’m sharing my winter must-haves to keep you warm and stylish. As a native of Salt Lake City, I’ve had a few years to figure out how to keep myself warm in the cold and I think the key to staying warm is layering, having a really good coat and solid shoes.

I won’t lie, Winter is probably my least favorite season. I hate being cold and I generally don’t enjoy wearing heavy clothes, but over the years, I’ve come up with some cute ways to stay warm and keep my style. Living in Texas, our winters are quite a bit milder than other parts of the country, but it still gets cold here and when I visit family in Montana, I have to bundle up!

Tennis shoes have also been a life saver for me during the winter months. During spring, summer and fall, I live in sandals so it is hard for me to give those up in the winter. I love Golden Goose sneakers because they are super stylish, go with all of my outfits and think they are worth the money for sure. If you’re not ready to make the splurge, Steve Madden has made much more affordable versions. I recently bought the Steve Madden star fur slides specifically for chilly walks with my dog in the morning. I love these shoes because they are warm and they are so easy to slide on and off. I also love the price! I got them on sale for $49…10 percent of the price of what most Golden Goose sneakers will cost you!

My other favorite shoes for the winter are my mini Uggs! I have been wearing these boots for years and I no shame wearing them all around town! I really only like the tan Uggs because I think they are a great neutral and I love the mini size!

Regardless of the season, you’ll find me in my duster sweaters…I literally live in these. I have a black, white and tan duster and throw them on over everything thing. In the winter months, I layer the sweater with long sleeve shirts and sometimes a scarf over the top and in warmer months, I throw them over a tank and jeans or a dress.

I have a hard time staying warm so blanket scarves are a necessity for me in the winter. I love getting mine from Madewell and Gap, but I recently found one I really like at Target. Scarves can often be incredibly expensive and high-maintenance to care for, but at these stores, the scarves are affordable, well-made and come in the cutest colors. You can easily throw them on over a sweater or layer them under a jacket. I also love my pom pom hat. I wear mine around town, skiing or inside if I’m really cold!

What are your winter essentials? Let me know what you’ll be buying to keep you warm this season and I hope you all have a beautiful winter solstice!

XO,

Brit
