New Years Eve Outfits 2022

New Years Eve Outfits 2022

2022 is upon us! I absolutely love the excitement New Years Eve brings and I always look forward to planning a fun and festive outfit to celebrate in. After a chill at-home NYE last year, Will and I will be ringing in the new year in his hometown of New Orleans so I’m going all in with sequins, feathers and stars!

This year we will be going out for dinner with friends to celebrate so I will be wearing this Black Bodysuit, Black and Silver Sequin Midi Skirt, a Star Tiara and pairing it with my Disco Bag and Crystal Embellished Heels (which are $100 and identical to the Amina Muadi’s).

I hope you love all of these festive ensembles and I wish you all a safe, happy and healthy New Year!

Zara Spring Try-on Haul

Zara Spring Try-on Haul

Zara is currently killing it with their spring collection. I went to the Domain the other day with one of my girlfriends to do some spring shopping so we went to Zara and Oh. My. Goodness. We were blown away with how good their new styles are!!

Because of COVID-19, fitting rooms are closed to customers so I had to buy everything that I wanted to try on and now have 30 days to return the items I don’t want. So here’s what I went home with!

Ribbed Midi Dress, Pink Midi Dress, Green Striped Midi Dress, White Midi Dress, Tan Wrap Sandals, Green Sporty Sandals, Jungle Print Mini, Relaxed Green Pants, Floral Mini

Without trying on the midi dresses, I kind of already knew that I would love them because I am a midi dress queen and also because the colors were SO lovely. Can you get better than mint green, bubble gum pink and white for spring and summer dresses?! The white ribbed midi dress I actually bought last summer and wore it everywhere so I was so happy to see that they brought it back this year. It is only $17 and looks just like my James Perse dresses. The flowy white midi dress is going to be a staple for me this summer because of how chic and comfortable it is. I am also just in love with the mint green and pink midi dresses too. When I wore them last weekend, I paired them with the Tan Wrap Sandals and got tons of compliments everywhere we went.

Now the more challenging part of the try-on process came with the mini dresses! For reference, I am 5’8″ so I don’t really wear a lot of mini dresses, but the jungle print and floral dress were just too cute for me to pass on.

Keep/Return

In the end, I decided to keep the two white midi dresses, the mint green and the pink midi dresses and the tan wrap sandals. I returned the sporty green sandals, the relaxed green pants and the two mini dresses. Do you think I made the right choices?

Leave me a comment and let me know what you’ve been loving at Zara lately!

St. Patrick’s Day Style

St. Patrick’s Day Style

St. Patrick’s Day is one week away! You might not know this about me, but I am mostly Irish and was almost born on St. Patrick’s Day so to say I love the holiday is a bit of an understatement.

I have Irish blood from both sides of my family and my mom’s parents were pretty well known for their annual St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Obviously celebrations this year won’t be too over the top, but as we begin to emerge from COVID-19 quarantine, it is nice to have a happy holiday to look forward to. When I celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, I usually like to wear a cute green top with white jeans and add some silly accessories to complete my look. Whether you celebrate next Wednesday or over the upcoming weekend, I’m sharing my favorite styles that will make you look like you are Irish too.

How are you celebrating St. Patrick’s Day this year and what are you planning to wear? Leave me a comment and let me know!

Hitting Reset for 2021

Hitting Reset for 2021

Happy New Year, friends! Although not much has changed this week from what happened in 2020, I am excited for the fresh start that a new year brings. Rather than lumping unrealistic expectations on myself and calling them “resolutions,” I have decided to do a modest reset as I begin the new year.

In many ways, I still can’t believe 2020 is over. It feels like it was the longest year of my life and the shortest at the same time. At the beginning of last year I never would have predicted what was to come. After years of working toward my goal of getting an MBA, I had finally started my program and I really thought I had life figured out. I had a great job, was getting my MBA part-time, had amazing friends, a wonderful husband and a supportive family.

By March my world had completely flipped…my husband and I moved to Austin for his job and as we were unpacking the boxes in our new home, the coronavirus pandemic shut down the world as we knew it. Without a job and confined to my home for quarantine, I decided to start this blog.

The Austin Motel in April 2020.

While 2020 was an incredible year in so many ways, it was also pretty tough. Because of the mental toll moving, leaving my job and friends took on me, I fell into some bad habits that I would like to break in 2021. To start 2021 off differently than 2020, I decided to give my life a metaphorical and literal reset. For the first two weeks of the year, I’m focusing on not drinking, not getting a spray tan, eating well and walking every day. I’m also de-cluttering my life by cleaning out closets and my digital spaces.

I’m not one to throw definitive blanket statements on anything so I don’t want to say that I’m done drinking forever, but throughout this past year I’ve realized I really don’t like who I am or how I feel when I am drinking so for now, I’m taking it out of my life. That might be two weeks, two months or indefinitely…I’m not sure.

It’s very Marie Kondo, but I’m also cleansing phone contacts, unfollowing people who do not bring me joy and deleting apps I don’t use to create a more positive mental space for 2021.

I am hopeful that by making these small changes I will become a better version of myself in 2021 and that the world can become a better place too. There has been a lot of hurt and hardship over the past year, but I really believe that our darkest moments lead us to brighter days than we ever could have imagined.

What are your hopes and goals for 2021?!

XO,

Brit
