Fall Style Crushes

Fall Style Crushes

Fall is almost here, my loves! Even though it is 100 degrees outside in Austin today, the promise of cooler weather, sweaters and boots is here. Although it has been hard for me to get in the mindset for fall, I’m sharing my crushes as we transition into this new season.

If my wardrobe on our trip to Kohler was any indication, I will be wearing these green pants all day, every day for the foreseeable future. They look amazing and are incredibly comfortable. I’ve paired it here with my favorite H&M sweater set from last season and my new shearling Birkenstocks.

Since the temperatures in Austin will be toasty through November at the earliest, I’m focusing mostly on dresses in darker tones of green, rust, black and blue as the seasons change. Swapping out sandals for tennis shoes and mules is also a great way to transition in a warmer climate.

I cannot wait to pair this dress with a great pair of tan boots this fall.

As promised, I will be styling my favorite shirt dress with tan boots this fall. I love this dress because you can use the buttons to make it a sexy look or leave it undone for a sophisticated casual look.

What colors and styles are you loving as we move from summer into fall? Leave me a comment and let me know!

Packing Guide for Chicago and Destination Kohler

Packing Guide for Chicago and Destination Kohler

I can’t believe we are finally going on a vacation this summer! Because of our housing drama, we were forced to cancel all of our trips this summer except for one…of course it is a golf trip, but regardless, I am excited to travel and get out of the Texas heat for a few days.

This weekend we will be going to Chicago for one night and Destination Kohler for a few days so my husband, dad and a couple of their friends can have a Ryder Cup Style golf tournament with one another. Thankfully, my mom and sweet Charlie are coming on the trip too. We plan to do an architecture river cruise and dinner in Chicago and lots of spa time, walking and water activities while we are in Kohler.

Since the vibe of this trip is relaxation and fun dinners, I’m bringing mostly casual clothes with a few fun pieces for our dinners. I am also so excited to read my new book, Golden Girl, written by the “queen of beach reads” Elin Hilderbrand. Of course we will be on the shores of Lake Michigan, but that counts as a beach, right?

Stay tuned next week for my travel guide to Chicago and Destination Kohler!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2021

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2021

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is finally here! It is one of my favorite sales of the year because instead of marking down items that are about to be out of season, the anniversary sale offers up to 40 percent off of new items for the season ahead of us. By working with top brands, Nordstrom is able to offer discounts on items that do not regularly go on sale.

I’m mostly excited to shop for beauty products during the Anniversary Sale because they are something I always need and beauty products do not normally go on sale. In addition to stocking up on beauty favorites, I also love to get a start on my holiday shopping–Barefoot Dreams blankets make the best gift and I love getting them on sale–I also like to get new workout clothes, accessories and maybe a new dress!

Happy Shopping!!

Brit’s Picks: My Guide to the NSALE

Brit’s Picks: My Guide to the NSALE

I am so excited the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has officially begun!! It is one of my favorite sales of the year because instead of marking down items that aren’t selling well, the anniversary sale offers up to 40 percent off of new items and some of the top items and brands sold at Nordstrom that do not regularly go on sale.

This is a great time to stock up on beauty products, holiday gifts and essentials. I am also excited this year to shop for Fall clothes because I finally live in a city where it gets a little chilly!! I’ve divided all of my picks into six different categories for easy browsing and I hope you love them as much as I do!!

Although this Anniversary Sale is a bit smaller than in other years, I do think there are some great items. I hope you love all my picks as much as I do and Happy Shopping, my friends!!

Gyms Reopen as COVID Continues

Gyms Reopen as COVID Continues

Gyms around the country have begun to reopen as coronavirus cases continue to rise. My gym, Equinox Austin reopened on June 1st and although I was skeptical about going back at first, I have to say that I feel incredibly safe when I am there.

Before the pandemic, I would work out four to five times a week and not having the option to go to the gym during lockdown was challenging for me. The classes at Equinox are taught by some of the most talented and inspiring people who not only motivate you to take your workout to another level, but they also make you leave feeling better mentally and physically.

The entrance of Equinox Austin.

I have been a member at Equinox since 2015 and I have always been impressed with their level of cleanliness and small class sizes, but now in the time of COVID, they have taken their standards to another level. In May, ahead of the gym’s post-lockdown re-opening, I had to read and sign what seemed like dozens of pages of new guidelines. Before each visit I make now, I have to read and sign a shortened health declaration before I am allowed inside.

Explanation of the Equinox Health Declaration.

The new rules at Equinox require members to make appointments to visit the gym–whether you’re going for a group fitness class, a personal training session or just to use an elliptical, you must schedule your visit in advance. Once in the gym, members and staff are required to wear face masks until they are working out. A member of the Equinox staff also checks everyone’s temperature at the door…anyone with over a 100 degree temperature will not be allowed in the gym.

All guests entering the gym are stopped at the door to get their temperature checked. Anyone with over 100 degrees will not be admitted.

Since going back to the gym, I have only attended group fitness classes and I have loved how much Equinox is respecting spacing, safety and cleanliness. In rooms that can fit up to 40, classes have been limited to under 15 people. All of the spots in the classes are spaced at least six feet apart and cleaned equipment is set out for each guest. Equinox has also shortened class times to allow more time in between classes for a deep cleaning of the studios. During class, instructors do not walk around the class, they stay at the front of the room to maintain social distancing standards.

Since June, I have not seen crowds of people and the equipment looks very clean in the main parts of the gym. There are also sanitizing stations in several locations around Equinox. To maintain cleanliness standards, Equinox is not providing their iconic chilled eucalyptus towels, which I kind of live for, but they do offer clean towels in plastic bags upon arrival.

One of the many sanitizing stations at Equinox.

One other heartbreaking change at the gym is that the steam room has been closed since the reopening. I used to use the steam room two or three times a week before coronavirus because of the many benefits steam can offer for skin and health, but it was also just so relaxing. Social distancing is a top priority in the bathroom as well. Sinks, bathroom stalls and showers are being rotated to maximize spacing and to make sure they aren’t being over-used.

Have you gone back to the gym yet? I hope these insights help with your decision making on whether to go back into the gym or not. If you have any questions I have not answered in this post, please leave me a comment and let me know!

Happy Friday, loves!! I am so excited about this long weekend and finally having a chance to hangout and relax with my husband and friends.

I have been living in this Ro’s Garden cover up this summer and I’m wearing it here with my favorite Trina Turk “Spicy” Clutch. I ordered it in a size small and love the loose fit…it is perfect to wear for a long day on the beach or the boat. It is one of those dresses that you can easily throw on to run in to grab lunch or comfortably wear on the beach all day because of its light-weight and breezy fabric. I also love the red and pink flowers on it– you could even wear it for the Fourth of July tomorrow with a blue swimsuit. I wore it here with my favorite tan slides, but how cute would it be with the Melissa heart pool sandals?! And of course no summer outfit is complete without a pair of sunglasses and my current favorites are these Gucci lookalike sunnies from Amazon…I swear you cannot tell the difference from the real ones, but they are only $12.99!! These do sell out quickly so be sure to grab yours soon!

1. Gucci Lookalike sunnies 2. Ganni Polka Dot Midi Dress 3. Hermes Face Mask 4. Staud Maxi Dress 5. Juicytube–Spring Fling 6. Spiritual Gangster Tee 7. Prada Slides 8. Ro’s Garden Caroline Cover up 9. Alo Biker Shorts 10. Slip Sleep Mist 11. J.Crew Cotton Pajamas 12. Melissa Heart Pool Sandals

Face masks have become this summer’s hottest accessory and how chic are these Hermes masks?! In addition to being uber-stylish in these masks, the proceeds from the masks are donated towards the purchase of diabetic alert service dogs for children and teens. If you’re looking for a little glam under your face mask, my favorite lip gloss from middle school is back! Lancome’s Juicy Tubes are back!! My favorite shade is SringFling…it’s the perfect dewey pink gloss!

Saks Fifth Avenue has some of the cutest new dresses in for summer and I am drooling over them!! The white Staud maxi dress with multi-colored lining is such a perfect dress, whether you’re staying at home or going to brunch with your friends. I am also in love with this new Ganni polka dot dress. Both dresses would pair perfectly with Prada’s Raffia slide sandals.

Ever since I’ve started going back to the gym after quarantine, I’ve changed my workout style. I have been loving oversized Spiritual Gangster tee shirts (the SOFTEST!! material) and pairing them with biker shorts which I never thought I’d say!

I don’t know about you, but I’ve had trouble sleeping the past few nights. The J.crew cotton pajamas are my absolute favorite–they are breathable and light, but offer coverage, which is perfect for summer in Texas. They are also 50 percent off right now with the code GOFOURTH. I’m hoping new pajamas and the chamomile sleep mist from Slip will help me get back into a regular sleep schedule soon.

I hope you all have a safe and healthy Fourth of July and enjoy all of my picks this week!
