Valentine’s Day is almost here! I wouldn’t say Valentine’s Day is my absolute favorite holiday, but I do love it because I love all things pink! From pink sweaters and dresses to my favorite gift and party decorations, I’m sharing all of my love day favorites with you.
If you are looking for festive Valentine’s Day apparel, I cannot recommend this Red Midi Dress enough. I wore it for Christmas and the Sugar Bowl and plan to wear it a lot this month too. I also LOVE this Peony Pink Midi Dress. I also have it in white, but got the pink for my sister’s baby shower and am absolutely in love with it! I just bout this Pink Striped Sweater and have been pairing it with these Light Wash Jeans. Depending on where you live, these Pink Floral Slides might be the perfect way to complete your vday look! Pretty pajamas are always fun for Valentine’s Day and you can’t go wrong with these gorgeous Pink and Red Feather Pajamas or this adorable Heart Sleep Shirt.
2022 is upon us! I absolutely love the excitement New Years Eve brings and I always look forward to planning a fun and festive outfit to celebrate in. After a chill at-home NYE last year, Will and I will be ringing in the new year in his hometown of New Orleans so I’m going all in with sequins, feathers and stars!
Halloween is almost here! Although I love the holiday spirit and live for a good theme, I’m not all that crazy about over-the-top Halloween costumes. Maybe it’s the extreme promiscuity or the gore, but my favorite costumes are usually the ones that mimic a real life character.
For my last year of college, I went to one of our halloween parties as Ja’mie King. For those of you who don’t know, Ja’mie is one of the three characters Chris Lilley plays in the one season wonder, Summer Heights High. In addition to my *perfect* Ja’mie accent, I borrowed my roommate’s little sister’s school uniform to emulate Ja’mie’s jumper and threw on knee high socks and a blazer and it was literally the best costume I’ve ever done. My roomie went as Barbie and that was pretty iconic too.
If you’re like me and *really* leaned into the nap/sleeper dress trend, why not make a costume out of it too? Pair this beautiful blue one with Amina Muadi dupe glass slippers for an effortless and comfortable Cinderella look. If perhaps you have a blue and white checkered dress, add a basket bag, bows and red slippers (maybe a puppy too) for a modest and chic Dorothy. On the sleepy chic train is also this iconic Audrey Hepburn look from Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Amazon even sells a sleeping mask, earring and tuxedo shirt set from the movie…I’d pair it with these Manolo dupes for and easy and elegant Audrey look.
I can’t tell y’all what Will is being yet because it is SO good and pulled straight from real life. I think those are really the best costumes when you can take on someone’s voice and personality for the night and just have a ton of fun with it. What are you planning to be this year?!
Hailey Bieber isn’t the only one loving lavender this summer! As one of the season’s hottest colors, it comes as no surprise that we are all loving the pastel tones of purple too. “Millennial purple,” as it has been dubbed by Hola! Is encompassing of the hues from lilac to lavender and has been a staple in my spring and summer wardrobes this year.
One of my favorite purple pieces has been this mini dress from English Factory because of its color and light-weight cotton fabric. The ruffle detailing on it is so beautiful and this dress also just got marked down to under $60! My only complaint about this dress is that it is a bit short. I am 5’8″ and it is shorter than most dresses I am comfortable in. This is a common theme for English Factory dresses…I just wish they would make a “tall” version or add about two inches to their dresses!
In the summertime, I am a sucker for dresses. Living in Texas, the heat can be overwhelming so having a light-weight dress is the most comfortable thing for me to wear. This beautiful wildflower dress is a must-have and is less than $50! I’m also loving this lavender midi dress from Sea. It would be perfect for church, brunch or a romantic date night.
The Fourth of July is just one week away. To prepare for patriotic celebrations of all kinds, I’m sharing my favorite red, white and blue styles today. From the pool and the beach to a bbq or dinner with friends, I’ve got you covered.
I personally love wearing a beautiful dress for the fourth because not only are they incredibly cute, they are also great for a hot day. If you’re hitting the pool or the beach, order this red swimsuit and white tunic cover-up ASAP! They are currently on a major sale at J.Crew and with luck, you can have it by the fourth.
However you choose to celebrate this year, I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday!
Wow! After the coldest two weeks I’ve ever experienced in Texas, we escaped the frozen state for the sunshine of Arizona to see my parents. After weeks of wearing layers of leggings and sweats, I could not wait to bust out a few of my favorite dresses and soak up the heat. All of my styles for the trip were under $100 and perfect for Spring!
I have been living in this oversized sweatshirt dress during this trip. I’ve mostly paired it with my favorite Veja’s, but as the weather warms up a bit, it will be so cute with sandals too. The sage green color is so flattering and the silhouette is very forgiving. Whether you’re lounging at home, running to the store or out to lunch, this is a great piece to have and under $30.
Another favorite for the trip was definitely this green midi dress from the Australian online retailer, Petal and Pup. I cannot tell you how many compliments I got on this dress and it was a steal at $70. During the trip I wore it with tennis shoes and sandals and it looks great both ways. I got this dress in an Australian size 6 and wish I would have gotten an 8 (I wear a US size 2 normally) so I would recommend sizing up with this brand. Scoop this one up before it’s sold out!
Are you wearing your spring clothes yet? I hope you all love these styles and that you’re getting some sunshine wherever you are!
I know it sounds crazy because of the recent spike in COVID cases, but I went to a wedding last weekend (my first since January). I have to admit that I was nervous to go, but since it was the wedding of one of my husband’s best friends, I sucked it up, treated myself to some fancy new face masks and tagged along with my hubs.
The wedding ended up being beautiful and in a huge church so guests had room to spread out. Everyone wore masks and had temperature checks and the reception was all outdoors so I felt really comfortable being there. Attending this wedding made me think about dressing up again because lord knows it has been a minute since most of us have been able to do that and I wanted to share some beautiful dresses with all of you in case you’re attending a wedding this fall!
While I ended up wearing one of my favorite dresses from a last year, I was a little stressed about what to wear.
The invitation said black tie, which traditionally means formal and floor-length, but I had a gut feeling that I would be overdressed in a gown, which my husband and mother-in-law confirmed. As my mother-in-law said, black tie is more for the men to wear tuxedos and for the women to wear elevated cocktails dresses in New Orleans, but that may not be the case where you are. I think good indicators of what a dress code really means are the time of the wedding (after 6 p.m. is definitely more formal) and the location of the wedding and reception.
Let’s start with perhaps the most common dress code, cocktail. Since most weddings are in the evening, cocktail attire is generally on the invitation. For men this means a nice suit and for women it means a nice dress, usually around knee length.
Things get trickier when couples list “Black Tie” as the dress code for their weddings. Traditionally, black tie means to wear a floor length gown, but that is often not the case at these weddings that request black tie on the invitation. For men, black tie does mean to wear a tuxedo or very nice suit, but for women it can in some cases mean a gown, but more often than not, it really means an elevated cocktail dress.
If you’re invited to a wedding that really is formal…say a night time wedding at a really fancy location like a fabulous ballroom or if the couple has rented out a museum , then you will want to go with a floor-length gown.
As we all know, weddings have been thrown for a loop by coronavirus and one trend I’ve noticed springing up is outdoor day weddings. Inspired by the outdoors and rustic decor, I would wear a casual flowy dress (even a bit prairie) with a great pair of boots to a wedding like this!
If you do have a wedding you’re contemplating going to, make sure you feel comfortable going and if you do go, make a plan. I made sure I had face masks and lots of hand sanitizer in my bag and tried to keep enough distance between myself and other guests. But most of all, have fun! We are living in a crazy time so we deserve to have a little *healthy and safe* fun!
Depending on where you are in the world, you might not be ready to think about boots for Fall and Winter yet, but in fact, the time is upon us! Fall is just one week away and many top boot and bootie styles are already selling out. Here in Texas, we can only wear boots for a few months out of the year so I’ve rounded up my favorite boot styles that you can save or splurge on, but still look stylish as ever.
Happy Friday, loves!! Today is not just any Friday, it is also my mom’s 60th birthday! I’m not sure if it’s the birthday celebrations or the beautiful summer weather, but I am just loving all things pink this week.
I have been living in this pink Free People Maxi Dress this summer. It is super light-weight and can be worn as a cover-up or as a dress to go out in. I have read some reviews that say it is sheer and I will say that it is, but because of all of the material you don’t really notice it. When I wore it out for drinks with my friend Steph, I wore nude shape wear underneath to provide extra coverage. If you’re looking for a cute swimsuit to throw under this dress for the beach, look no further than this dreamy cotton candy-colored one-piece swimsuit from LoveShackFancy!
If you’re looking for a fun new t-shirt for the summer, I am loving this Rolling Stones tee from H&M and this adorable “Pass the Vino” crop tee from Nasty Gal and they are both under $20! Jeans and a tee is my normal go-to on the weekends whether I’m grocery shopping or going out for a casual dinner and these two tees will be wonderful additions to my collection.
For my beauty picks this week I have been using the Laneige lip balm in Berry and love it because it is moisturizing and gives my lips a wonderful color. A few months ago, my friend Erica gave me the Pep Rally spray from Dry Bar and it is amazing!! I use it when my hair is wet before I blow dry it and it works well and smells amazing! If you’re looking for an extra level of sterilization, I found this really cool UV sanitizing wand from Dillards and it is under $40. Whether you want to sanitize your purse when you get home or your shoes, this is a great option.
What do you think about all of the pink and what are your favorite things this week? Leave me a comment and let me know!
