Fall Style Crushes

Fall Style Crushes

Fall is almost here, my loves! Even though it is 100 degrees outside in Austin today, the promise of cooler weather, sweaters and boots is here. Although it has been hard for me to get in the mindset for fall, I’m sharing my crushes as we transition into this new season.

If my wardrobe on our trip to Kohler was any indication, I will be wearing these green pants all day, every day for the foreseeable future. They look amazing and are incredibly comfortable. I’ve paired it here with my favorite H&M sweater set from last season and my new shearling Birkenstocks.

Since the temperatures in Austin will be toasty through November at the earliest, I’m focusing mostly on dresses in darker tones of green, rust, black and blue as the seasons change. Swapping out sandals for tennis shoes and mules is also a great way to transition in a warmer climate.

I cannot wait to pair this dress with a great pair of tan boots this fall.

As promised, I will be styling my favorite shirt dress with tan boots this fall. I love this dress because you can use the buttons to make it a sexy look or leave it undone for a sophisticated casual look.

What colors and styles are you loving as we move from summer into fall? Leave me a comment and let me know!

A Midsummer Date Night

A Midsummer Date Night

We have had wild few weeks here in Austin! After finding out our lease couldn’t be renewed on our current house, we decided to buy our first house. While the process was wild–have you heard about the real estate market in Austin?!–we finally found a house and are moving in this weekend. To celebrate, I wore my current favorite dress. I love this dress because you can easily wear it during the day with tennis shoes or turn it into a sexy look for the evening.

Celebrating closing on our first house!! I wore the dress loosely here without attaching any of the buttons and paired it with my favorite Vejas.

To transition this look from day to evening, simply swap the tennis shoes for heels, add some hoop earnings and a great clutch. by fastening the buttons on the front and back, this dress goes from casual and comfy to chic and sexy.

Gypsy Water Perfume, Blue Shirt Dress, Hoop Earrings, Tan Strappy Heels, Tan Clutch

From day to night, I have been living in this dress. While it is a little bit pricey, I believe it is worth the money. Not only is it machine washable, it is also incredibly versatile. In the fall I plan to pair it with tan knee-high boots…stay tuned for that!

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Mother’s Day is just around the corner! May 9th, to be exact, which is only three weeks away. Not to worry though, I’ve got gift suggestions to celebrate all of the mamas in your life from your mom to your grandma, sisters and friends.

If you’re looking for a mommy and me look for a Mother’s Day brunch with the fam, check out this adorable matching dress set from Zimmermann. If I were wearing the mama version of this dress, I’d pair it with Tom Ford sunnies, a chic Lee Radziwill bag from Tory Burch and studded Christian Louboutin Wedges.

Jo Malone Earl Grey and Cucumber makes the perfect Mother’s Day Gift and it comes beautifully gift wrapped!

For the beauty lovers in your life, you can’t go wrong with the CE Ferulic serum from Skinceuticals. It is definitely a splurge and I have yet to meet a woman who hasn’t loved it, which makes it THE perfect gift to get for your baby mama! If they already have that and have dry skin, treat them to the La Mer Moisturizing cream. This moisturizer is so luxurious and will be such a pleasant surprise. If you’re looking for a fabulous perfume, I always recommend the Jo Malone fragrances. My personal favorite is Earl Grey and Cucumber because it is light, refreshing and reminds me of the spa. Fragrances can often be personal so a helpful tip to find the right scent for the mamas in your life is to look at what they already have. Just take a picture of their perfume bottle and buy them a new one…I know it will be much appreciated!

I know my mom loves pajamas so I always get her a new pair for Mother’s Day and this year will be no different. I absolutely love this beautiful floral pajama set from Nordstrom. If your mom is like mine and loves the cozy things in life, I’m sure she would also love a Barefoot Dreams blanket or a pair of the ultra light-weight Eva Birkenstocks that will be perfect for running around in this summer.

To help get the ladies in your life ready for summer, I know I would *LOVE* to get a matching swimsuit and pareo from Agua by Agua Bendita! It is a total splurge, but so beautiful!! I also love the mommy and me Mark and Graham straw beach totes. These make the perfect gift because you can customize the colors and add a monogram which is a thoughtful touch. If you’re traveling this summer, I’d suggest getting the MZ Wallace Large tote or the crossbody bag as a gift because these are truly the best bags to travel with and are so stylish. Speaking of travel, every girl needs a great pair of shoes to run around in and I think Veja’s are the best everyday sneaker, check out this all white pair for the summer.

If you’re looking to give your mama friends a nice gift to celebrate them, I think a rosé themed gift is perfect! You can get them a cute bottle of Cameron Diaz’s Avaline Rosé. If you want to add on to that, throw in a Vinglace bottle chiller and a Rosé All Day Sleeping Mask.

My two favorite ladies– my mama and my grandma on my wedding day!

I hope you all have a beautiful Mother’s Day this year and have a chance give the ladies in your life a big hug!

Spring Things

Spring Things

Spring is finally here! Lately it seems like I am loving all things green and I don’t think I’m alone in that. According to the Zoe Report, the color green–which is known to elicit feelings of optimism and rebirth–is a trending color this season.

Susanna Merrick, founder of Aura Wear, spoke with the Zoe Report about the subconscious meaning of wearing green.

“When someone is attracted to the color green, they’re calling in growth, expansion, determination, focus, ambition, goals,” Merrick said in the Zoe Report article. “I always lovingly refer to green as the ‘Type-A energy’.”

White Blouse, Relaxed Denim, Peacock Maxi Dress, White LoveShackFancy Dress, Tortoise Sunglasses, Floral Bathrobe, Tan Mules, Straw Tote Bag, Sage Green Bike, Knitted Sweater, White Veja Sneakers

If my color choice this season is any indication–I’m ready to get things done and look cute doing it. From my new bike to the dresses I’ll be wearing, it’s all green. Living in Austin, pretty much everyone has a bike and I am so excited because my parents got me this beautiful Reid bike for my birthday this year! It should be getting delivered in the next few weeks and I just can’t wait to bike around town and enjoy this beautiful weather.

My mother-in-law showed me this gorgeous peacock dress in the new issue of Garden and Gun magazine and I think it is an essential for your spring wardrobe. It can be easily dressed up or down, personally, I’d love pairing it with my white Veja’s for a fun lunch with my girlfriends.

Another highlight from my spring crushes is this lovely hand-knitted sweater from Fanm Mon. I discovered this brand from Arielle Charnas, the creator of Something Navy, and am just in love with their clothing. I think this sweater will help you seamlessly transition from winter to spring. I’m also dreaming of the wicker Prada bag for spring…it will be the perfect addition to almost any outfit!

While this LoveShackFancy dress might not be green, it is a staple for this spring and summer. From afternoon tea to a walk on the beach, this dress will be perfect for you.

What are the trends you are loving this season?

Dressing like a Duchess

Dressing like a Duchess

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will share their first interview post-royal life tonight with the legendary Oprah Winfrey. While their story will no doubt be enthralling, what has always drawn me to the royal family is the style of the women of Windsor. From Queen Victoria to Princess Diana and the two Duchesses, I cannot get enough royal fashions.

Personally, I think Kate is a greater style icon, but I can relate more to Meghan’s style. Meghan chooses beautiful pieces to wear, but for whatever reason, the fit is usually off or it may not be the best style for the occasion, whereas Kate nails fit and occasion every time.

What I love about both duchesses is that they blend high street fashions with couture pieces. One day we might see Kate in a Jenny Packham gown and the next morning we might see her playing with her children in a Zara dress. With both women, one thing we know for sure is that whenever they wear affordable fashions, the pieces are sure to be sold out in seconds.

Kate favors brands like Emilia Wickstead, Elie Saab, Zara, Jimmy Choo and Superga while Meghan loves Oscar de la Renta, Victoria Beckham, Aquazurra, Veja and J.Crew. Kate’s style is definitely more mature and conservative than Meghan’s and I think that is because it has to be. Kate is the future queen of England and Meghan now has the life of a celebrity in Montecito so she can be much more laid back and take risks that Kate can’t.

I am loving Meghan’s style post-royal life. I think we are now seeing the real Meghan and she is a lot more comfortable with herself. Constant scrutiny and the need to wear over-the-top fashions every day must have been exhausting so I totally understand her desire to be back in California. And what better place to relocate than Montecito? Santa Barbara and Montecito have a very special place in my heart as I was married there and have spent a lot of time in the area. I think Meghan is nailing Montecito chic and I am so happy for her.

I see Kate as the style icon because she is someone I aspire to be and has a life I could really only dream of, as such her clothes are not things I would normally wear. Meghan’s style is much more accessible and her life now is much more relatable. Once in a while I will have the same dress as Kate (usually from Zara) but it is a regular occurrence that Meghan is photographed in an outfit that I also have and that is pretty cool.

What did you think of the interview tonight and who is your royal style icon? Leave me a comment and let me know!

Brit’s Picks: My Guide to the NSALE

Brit’s Picks: My Guide to the NSALE

I am so excited the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has officially begun!! It is one of my favorite sales of the year because instead of marking down items that aren’t selling well, the anniversary sale offers up to 40 percent off of new items and some of the top items and brands sold at Nordstrom that do not regularly go on sale.

This is a great time to stock up on beauty products, holiday gifts and essentials. I am also excited this year to shop for Fall clothes because I finally live in a city where it gets a little chilly!! I’ve divided all of my picks into six different categories for easy browsing and I hope you love them as much as I do!!

Although this Anniversary Sale is a bit smaller than in other years, I do think there are some great items. I hope you love all my picks as much as I do and Happy Shopping, my friends!!

Brit’s Father’s Day Gift Picks

Brit’s Father’s Day Gift Picks

Father’s Day is just around the corner, friends! I don’t know about you, but I am a daddy’s girl through and through. Not only do I look like my dad, but he is also my best friend. Although one day of the year is not nearly enough to celebrate my dad, I do like using this holiday to show him some love.

My parents do not really like getting gifts, I honestly think they would prefer to never get gifts and just give to others, but I insist on getting them something. In the past couple of years I have really honed in on how to buy gifts for my mom and dad and people who “don’t like getting gifts.” The trick is to watch what they buy for themselves and then get them that, with a slight elevation. For example, my dad loves golfing and golfers go through a lot of golf balls. So I bought him a set of Pro V1 golf balls and had them customized to say “Lar Bear” on the balls. This little addition does not cost much more than the golf balls would if you bought them in the store, but the sentiment goes a long way.

All of that being said, I’ve come up with a list of gifts that I think my dad and many more will love for Father’s Day this year, but I know for sure that my dad will most enjoy the card I write him. So don’t forget to add a beautiful note to your dad to remind them how much you love them!I hope you enjoy this gift guide and that you have a wonderful Father’s Day!
